The latest episode of Charts with Dan covers various updates from the box office. Superman is in the spotlight for maintaining a strong second weekend with $58.4 million, a 53.2% drop from its debut, bringing its domestic total to $236.2 million. This performance defies the typical steep decline seen in previous DC movies.
Jurassic World Rebirth continues to perform solidly, earning $23.7 million despite the dominant presence of Superman in the charts, bringing its domestic earnings to $276 million.
However, not all films are performing to expectations. The new "I Know What You Did Last Summer" only managed to debut with $12.7 million, while the latest Smurfs movie landed with just over $11 million. Both results were below projections.
On the other hand, F1 the Movie continues to show strong legs, dropping only 24.4% in its fourth weekend to earn an additional $9.8 million.
Internationally, "Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle" opened impressively in Japan with $36.5 million, setting a local record. This is alongside Superman, which earned $45.2 million overseas, maintaining a consistent international performance.
Meanwhile, Paramount's attempt to revitalize the Smurfs franchise has not captured much audience interest, reflective of its underwhelming performance both domestically and internationally.
