Zootopia Sequel: A Fun but Less Impactful Adventure

Review of Zootopia sequel. A fun animation with clever moments, but not as impactful as the first. Enjoyable for both kids and adults.

This is honestly a pretty easy film to review. During the viewing, I thought there were many interesting moments and good stuff, but I questioned if it was truly coming together. Reflecting on it, I found some jokes didn't always hit, and certain character moments could have been fleshed out more.

'Zootopia' is one of those films where the memory may be stronger than the film itself. Each time I revisit it, certain scenes stand out despite finding the film a bit uneventful at times. It's interesting when compared to films that captivate you during viewing but are easily forgotten.

The movie dives into very obvious commentary, something I often critique for being overdone. Yet, this film smartly pulls it off, managing to evolve in some areas while staying fresh. Although not quite matching the first installment's impact, there's potential for this series to become a fun, buddy-cop style narrative.

At the heart of it are two likable characters, the bunny and the fox, animated with charm and voiced excellently. Mysteries involved may not surprise everyone, but the storyline remains intriguing, exploring more of the world with layers of interpretation.

In terms of humor, while there are misses, the film often succeeds by trying varied comedic styles. Some jokes are clever, like jabs at Disney's remakes and sequels. The creativity, especially in action and chase sequences, ensures the film is entertaining, though not groundbreaking.

Touching on fan-favorite characters from the first film, they are integrated naturally into the plot, creating exciting new scenarios. The different environments explored add to the film's depth and offer fresh perspectives on common themes.

Despite a lack of necessity for a sequel, 'Zootopia' delivers a joyful and energetic experience. The sequel may not change your life or surpass the original, but it's a respectable follow-up worth viewing, particularly for its enthusiasm and creativity. Overall, I'd rate it three out of four stars.
