Welcome to InFrame Out's Year in Film, where we take stock of 12 months of spectacular cinema and unfortunate rubbish. Instead of discussing great graphic novels or music, let's delve into what went wrong in movie worlds this year. Here's our countdown of the worst films of 2024, entries 10 through 6.
10. Hellboy: The Crooked Man - Despite intentions for a stripped-back horror, this rendition lacks any cinematic intrigue or coherence. With a no-name cast and minuscule budget, it neither thrills nor captivates, leaving audiences yearning for previous renditions.
9. Argylle - This visually unappealing film is a disappointment from director Matthew Vaughn, who fails to replicate the charm of his earlier works like Stardust. Argylle is a lackluster, corporate production with convoluted ideas and uninspired execution.
8. Irish Wish - A romantic comedy reminiscent of a Hallmark movie, complete with absurd plot and characterization. Shot awkwardly, it misses the mark with humor and storyline, though some may find it amusing in a 'so-bad-it's-good' way.
7. The Crow (2024) - Failing to capture the essence and speed of the original, this reboot drags with redundant and lackluster storytelling. Despite an effort to modernize, it stands as a dreary attempt that never fully takes flight.
6. Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 2 - An improvement on its predecessor only in production values, this film continues to exploit its source material with little artistic merit. Despite better visuals and effects, it remains a cynical venture without true substance.
