Five Spin-offs No One Wanted

Exploring spin-off TV shows that failed to captivate audiences, including Enus, Tabitha, and others.

Whenever a TV show becomes a hit, networks often try to expand its universe with spin-offs. However, not all spin-offs achieve success. Here's a review of five spin-offs that struggled to find an audience.

Enus was a spin-off from the successful show "The Dukes of Hazard." Focused on the dim-witted deputy character, Enus, it aired in 1980 but failed to attract viewers. Despite having a quirky plot and a new setting in Los Angeles, it only lasted for 18 episodes before being canceled.

Tabitha capitalized on the success of "Bewitched," following the adult life of the witch Samantha's daughter. Despite multiple pilots and attempts to get the show right, "Tabitha" only aired for one season before it was shelved.

Models Inc. followed in the footsteps of "Melrose Place" and "Beverly Hills 90210" but failed to capture similar success. It included dramatic elements and high-profile casts but was unable to draw viewers, lasting only one season.

The Tortellis, emerging from the popular series "Cheers," tried to focus on the characters Nick and Loretta, but it didn't resonate with the audience. The show aired only for one short season.

Joanie Loves Chachi, a spin-off of "Happy Days," followed the characters Joanie and Chachi in their supposed musical journey. Despite featuring musical elements in each episode, the show could not sustain itself beyond two short seasons.

These spin-offs often highlight the challenges networks face in leveraging hit shows for additional series. Not every character is strong enough to lead their own show, making the original ensemble performance difficult to replicate.
