Pixar's 'Hoppers' Tops Box Office; 'Scream 7' and 'The Bride' Face Challenges

Pixar's 'Hoppers' debuts at number one, while 'Scream 7' and 'The Bride' face challenges in the latest box office update.

In this week's box office update, Pixar's latest film 'Hoppers' made a strong debut, securing the number one spot with $45.3 million. This is a positive development for Pixar, especially after the previous film 'Elio' failed to perform last summer.

However, while 'Hoppers' had a good opening, it's important to note that it doesn't measure up to some of Pixar's biggest hits in terms of debut performance. It ranks as the 21st out of 27 Pixar films released in theaters domestically when adjusted for inflation, it ranks 25th.

'Scream 7', despite having the second-highest drop in its franchise's history at 73.3%, continued to perform well with a domestic total reaching $93 million due to a substantial opening weekend.

On the other hand, Warner Brothers' 'The Bride' experienced a disappointing start with just over $7 million, significantly below expectations. This film could potentially become the first major box office bomb of 2026 given its high production and marketing costs, coupled with poor audience and critical reception.

Other notable chart performances include 'Goat', which maintained its top-five status, and 'Crime 101', which continued to perform moderately well in the race for domestic box office earnings.

Overall, the box office in early 2026 is showing improvement over the previous year with strong contributions from new releases such as 'Hoppers' and 'Scream 7'. The coming weeks will be crucial for studios as they assess the market response to their cinematic offerings.
