Weekend Box Office Report: 'Hoppers' Leads, 'Scream 7' Surpasses $100M

Weekend box office overview shows declines for 'Scream 7', 'The Bride', and others.

The weekend box office report indicates that 'Hoppers' continues to lead despite a 37% drop in its second week, earning $28.6 million. The film has made a total of $86.9 million domestically, placing above 'Onward' and last year's 'Elio', but still behind 'Lightyear' and 'The Good Dinosaur'. 'Hoppers' also holds well internationally, remaining the number one movie globally.

'Reminders of Him', the latest Colleen Hoover adaptation, opened with $17.9 million, slightly higher than 'Regretting You', but below 'It Ends With Us'. The movie ranks as the seventh highest opening in 2026, suggesting a strong box office year.

The A24 horror film 'Undertone' opened with $9.3 million. 'Scream 7' dropped 50% to $8.5 million but is the first 2026 film to surpass $100 million domestically. Within the 'Scream' franchise, 'Scream 7' is poised to overtake 'Scream 6' as the highest-grossing film.

This weekend showed a 59.7% improvement over the same period last year, mostly due to successful openings and sustained audience numbers. Year-to-date box office stands at $1.37 billion. The upcoming release of 'Project Hail Mary' is expected to follow this positive trend.
