Welcome back to Screen Crush, I'm Ryan Ary and this is all of the Easter eggs, references and little things you might have missed in episode 1 of Daredevil Born Again season 2.
This series is essentially a continuation of the Marvel Netflix series of Defenders Heroes that Daredevil started back in 2015. Matt Murdoch is a street-level hero in Hell's Kitchen who years ago took down the kingpin of crime, Wilson Fisk. During the blip, Fisk was released from prison and had a run-in with Hawkeye, leading to him being shot in the eye by his protegé, Maya Lopez, aka Echo.
The first season of this show was largely reconfigured by the current showrunner, Dario Scardipane, who added new elements that altered the course of the narrative. The season ended with Fisk consolidating power and outlawing all vigilante activity.
Now Daredevil, Karen Page, and a network of vigilantes are rebelling against Fisk's regime. Episode 1 opens with a Wilson Fisk propaganda video, a tool to promote his anti-vigilante agenda. The song playing is "Whatever it Takes" by the James Hunter 6, fitting for Fisk's hardline approach to ruling New York.
The episode highlights key story elements using visual contrast between Fisk's colorful propaganda videos and the dark, gritty aesthetic of Daredevil’s world. It also dives into new storylines connecting Fisk's operations to larger Marvel narratives, including a hidden connection to the new Avengers.
The detailed breakdown aimed to connect viewers to each element of the storyline, shedding light on character dynamics and hidden references that shape the evolving narrative of Daredevil: Born Again.
