Blackmagic Design is creating groundbreaking solutions for film post-production and television. At the Adobe booth during the event, significant announcements were made, putting Adobe at the forefront of innovation in video editing technology. Paul Sone, Senior Director of Adobe Pro Video Marketing, discussed Adobe's new generative AI features coming to Premiere Pro.
The main highlight is the introduction of Adobe’s Firefly model for video, powering three new generative AI features: object removal, object edition, and generative extend. These features are expected to enhance efficiency and creativity in video editing.
Object removal allows users to effortlessly remove unwanted objects from video, like the infamous Starbucks cup in 'Game of Thrones', by simply creating a mask and tracking it over time. Object edition offers the ability to make changes, such as altering clothing or backgrounds, which could revolutionize how scenes are edited.
Generative extend creates additional frames at the beginning and end of clips, enabling seamless transitions and extended emotional beats in scenes. All these features are set to enter public beta by the end of the year.
Apart from these, Adobe is enhancing content authenticity through content credentials, ensuring transparency in digital media usage. This provides metadata that informs users about AI involvement in video editing, maintaining the integrity of digital content.
Moreover, Adobe is exploring third-party model integrations, allowing a combination of Adobe’s and external tools for maximum flexibility in creative processes.
Alongside AI advancements, Adobe is rolling out new audio workflows, introduced earlier in the year, which includes AI-based audio category tagging, paving the way for improved audio editing capabilities in Premiere Pro.
