Upcoming DCU Films: Supergirl, Clayface and More

Explore the latest updates on DCU films including Supergirl, Clayface, and Batman's alternate universe adventures.

Fresh off her cameo in Superman, Millie Alco's Kara Zor-El stars as the titular Kryptonian in Supergirl, set to hit theaters on June 26th, 2026. Although James Gunn has dropped the previous subtitle, Woman of Tomorrow, Alco's Supergirl is still based on that comic book. This version of Kara witnessed the death of her home planet Krypton firsthand, likely why she was distraught during her appearance in Superman. In the comic, Kara and her dog Krypto work together to avenge an alien girl whose father was unjustly murdered. This adaptation promises a fresh perspective on Supergirl, unlike previous iterations.

Following Superman and Supergirl, the DCU will return to its street-level roots with Clayface, starring Tom Rees Harries. Set for release on September 11th, 2026, Clayface is traditionally a legacy name for several Batman villains. These characters, former Arkham Asylum patients, possess shape-shifting abilities due to their malleable clay-like bodies. The DCU plans to adapt these various characters through the years, offering a unique blend of body horror and crime drama.

Additionally, Robert Pattinson and Matt Reeves’s second Batman film is scheduled for October 1st, 2027. Falling under DCU's Elseworlds category, this film exists in an alternate universe within the DCU. This decision allows Robert Pattinson's portrayal of Bruce Wayne to remain separate from the main DCU continuity, though future plans could change.

After Batman 2, the DCU plans to release Batman: The Brave and the Bold, set in the main live-action DC universe, focusing on Bruce Wayne’s dynamic with his son Damian, a controversial Robin. The success of this film could depend heavily on the reception of Batman 2.

The DCU is also considering other projects like The Authority, a group of obscure anti-heroes akin to a darker Justice League, along with plans for Swamp Thing, a Teen Titans movie, and a standalone film featuring Deathstroke. Significant offerings include a new Wonder Woman film and the anticipated sequel to Constantine with Keanu Reeves, which suggests Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters might extend into the 2030s.

These announcements set exciting prospects for the DCU's future trajectory. Which upcoming live-action DCU movies are you most excited about? Share your thoughts on Gods and Monsters in the comments.
