Since the initial full trailer reveal of 007 First Light in June 2025, details about the gameplay have been scarce. Developer IO Interactive, known for their excitement-filled social media campaigns, recently showcased more than 30 minutes of gameplay for First Light at a PlayStation State of Play on September 3, 2025.
This reveal gave a peek into various game elements, including a homage to the iconic Moonraker film. Notably, the game presents Bond’s first major mission, involving high-octane driving sequences and intriguing mechanics like the bluff system, which allows players to strategically interact with NPCs.
First Light seems to be committed to maintaining the essence of a James Bond experience, with IO Interactive focusing on authentic Bondian elements like intricate party infiltrations, gadget usage and dynamic combat encounters, reminiscent of scenes from the fan-favorite Nightfire game.
The presentation also highlighted the inclusion of a narrative-driven experience, with replayability akin to the Hitman series, encouraging players to explore different strategies and outcomes.
Among new revelations, the commitment to cinematic quality shines, featuring stunning graphics and environments that mimic a living world. However, some concerns about frame rate issues during the preview were noted, which IO Interactive is expected to address before the game's March 27, 2026 release.
In addition, the recap confirmed crucial voice cast members, including Patrick Gibson and Priyanka Beresford as M, further building anticipation for the approaching launch.
