Welcome back or welcome if you're new here! I'm Ashley, and today in Franchise Friday, I'm wrapping up the Alien movie franchise with "Alien Romulus." This concludes my journey with the Alien films I've cherished from the beginning of my channel. It's been about five years since I first watched "Alien" and "Aliens," and I'm both nervous and thrilled to finally watch "Alien Romulus," released in 2024. This movie takes place chronologically between "Alien" and "Aliens," sparking a lot of curiosity about which characters it follows if not Ripley.
In my viewing, I couldn't help but wonder how "Alien Romulus" fits into the classic Ripley timeline. Without Sigourney Weaver's iconic Ripley character, there's a looming mystery about who this story centers around. The franchise has pioneered so many memorable sci-fi experiences, and "Alien Romulus" continues this legacy with its engaging suspense and thrills.
This newest installment, set on a doom-laden mission in outer space, showcases a fresh cast navigating perilous challenges and the classic xenomorph threat. The story unfolds with surprises and a gripping tension as it explores themes of survival and human (or android) resilience.
Looking back, the Alien franchise offered cinematic brilliance through its journey starting with "Alien" and "Aliens," movies I constantly recommend for their sci-fi impact. As we complete this franchise, I reflect on the beautiful creativity, terrifying alien encounters, and iconic characters that have shaped my appreciation for sci-fi cinema. "Alien Romulus" is a captivating conclusion to an epic saga that blends nostalgic elements with new ideas, keeping the franchise as timeless as ever.
