'Alien Earth': Season Finale Wraps Up Season 1 with Major Unresolved Plot Points, Teases Season 2

Alien Earth concludes season 1 with unresolved plots anticipating a season 2, exploring character and plot directions in its thrilling finale.

Oh boy, Noah Hawley sure has gambled big on a season 2 renewal. I couldn't believe it the first time I watched episode 8. Nothing from season 1 gets resolved. That's a bold strategy, Cotton. Let's see if it works out for him. Most disappointing to me was the lack of resolution and wondering what viewers are the most disappointed in as well. I liked this episode a lot, but I can't believe the Eye didn't say even one word, so close yet it didn't happen.

If Alien Earth doesn't get a season 2 renewal, it might be the most devastating cancellation since the Sarah Connor Chronicles. Remember that? It was shocking. The industry shows that you can create all the cliffhangers you want, but if the studio doesn't feel the numbers are there, that's the end of the story. I'm still not over Sarah Connor Chronicles not getting a season 3, and that was 16 years ago. What TV or streaming show cancellation haunts you to this day?

There's hope for Alien Earth. Even though it's getting pirated a lot, at least it shows people are engaged, and maybe they'll consider a season 2. There's talk about shifting from weekly to binging season structures, and considering all feedback seriously might be the way to go. Don't disregard fan opinions.

Coming out of episode 8, some interesting dynamics were at play and some characters really shone, like Arthur who hosts two alien parasites – the new xenomorph and the Eye. This unusual development forms intriguing new connections and opens new plot lines for Wendy, who previously held a monopoly over xenomorph relationships.

The season finale leveraged interesting setups for future storylines without resolving many existing ones. Hybrids rise under Wendy's leadership, while Boy Cavalere's true nature is revealed. Philosophical elements of identity, power over technology, and hybrid understanding showcase the show's complexity.

The final episode might be setting up exciting paths for its potential second season, leaving fans to wonder what's next for humans, synthetics, and aliens as the narrative explores issues like reincarnation, identity, and evolution. It leaves room for exciting narratives.
