Vault Rising: A 1950s Murder Mystery Prequel of The Boys

Vault Rising, a prequel to The Boys, unveils a 1950s murder mystery surrounding VA International's origins and Soldier Boy's early exploits.

Vault Rising is a prequel and spin-off of The Boys. While there's no definite release date for Vault Rising yet, we know that the show is set in the 1950s during the earliest years of both VA International and the Cold War. And not surprisingly, Vault's origin story is also framed around a murder mystery.

Vault Rising stars Jensen Ackles' Soldier Boy in the peak of his fame. And joining Soldier Boy is Akash's Stormfront, then known as Clara VA. Also in the cast is Mason Dye as the superhero named Bombsite after his confirmed debut in The Boys season 5. Meanwhile, there's also Will Hawkman as Torpedo and Elizabeth Posey as Private Angel. Although we don't exactly know what specific powers these heroes possess, each of them seem to represent different branches of the American military. So, just like Soldier Boy's explosive, no-holds-barred appeal, the other hero's powers are bound to coincide with the prequel's post-World War II Cold War setting.

In addition, actors Nicolo Pacetti, Ricky Stafiieri, Jordan Miley, Brian J. Smith, and Kiki Lane are also confirmed to be in the spin-off cast, but in yet undisclosed roles. Apart from being a 50s murder mystery unraveling the first years of VA, the boy's creator, Eric Krypy, reveals that VA Rising will also show the early exploits of Soldier Boy and the diabolical maneuvers of a soup known to fans as Stormfront, who was then going by the name Clara VA. From the boy season 2, we already know that Stormfront was actually the wife of VA International founder Frederick VA. And notably, it was also revealed that Stormfront had direct ties to high-ranking Nazis during the war, including Joseph Gobles and Herman Guring.

In short, VA rising is expected to reveal exactly what part the Nazis played in the rise of VA International, including how VA used Nazi scientists to become the preeminent American corporation. But what's most exciting about Vault Rising is its promise of more Souljier Boy. Alongside Bombsite, Torpedo, and Private Angel, Soulja Boy leads an old-school superhero team that precedes Payback and the Seven by decades. And with nothing to stand against Soulja Boy's hyper masculinity, it's safe to expect that VA Rising will feature the most hilariously offensive dialogue in the entire franchise.

In fact, we already know that the chemistry between the two lead stars will be absolutely diabolical before she reemerged as Stormfront. Clara VA was first known as Liberty. And in The Boys, there were glimpses into Liberty and Soldier Boy's relationship in the '50s. So, although VA rising will be framed by the larger conspiracies that gave rise to the company, the show will also finally reveal what exactly happened between the two most charmingly evil boomers in the extended cast. Apart from being the show's hook, this twisted, romantic, dark comedy is also bound to unearth even more atrocities in VA's current operations. But with The Boys ending in season 5, do you think Vault Rising can keep the franchise going on its own? And with no official release date just yet, could Vault Rising start streaming by 2026? Tell us your thoughts about the upcoming The Boys prequel in the comments. And thanks for watching Screen Rant.
