New Na'vi Tribes to Debut in Avatar 3: Ash People and Wind Traders

Avatar 3 introduces the Ash People and Wind Traders, two new Na'vi tribes, altering Pandora's political landscape ahead of the 2025 release.

Set to hit theaters on December 19th, 2025, Avatar, Fire, and Ash will unveil the highly anticipated Mongan, the Na'vi tribe known more infamously as the Ash people. These Na'vi earned their name for how they live and survive in the volcanic lands of Pandora. And just like with the omatikaya of the forests and the meta of the sea, the Monuan have completely adapted to their harsh environment, as evidenced by their extreme resistance to fire and heat.

Notably, the Ash people are led by Veron, the volatile tribe leader who allies with Cororic and RDA in Avatar, Fire, and Ash. So, while the Ash people are unlike any Na'vi tribe we've seen before, their warlike nature only proves that the Na'vi are just like us.

For now, it remains to be seen exactly why the Ash people are helping the RDA invaders, and they're not the only new tribe in Avatar 3. Not much is known about the Taleim, also known as the Wind Traers. However, we know that they're led by a Na'vi named Pailac and that they're one of the few nomadic tribes on Pandora. In fact, the Wind Traders earned their name for their use of flying creatures and machines for both travel and trading.

But while this implies that they'll only have a background role in Avatar, Fire, and Ash, the Taleim could be considered the most worldly and traveled of the known Na'vi tribes. Most importantly, their logistical expertise and advanced technologies are bound to eventually play a big role in the war for Pandora.

So, with the debut of two new tribes that could change the fate of the planet, where does this leave Jake's original tribes? The Omatikaya missed all the action in Avatar: The Way of Water, which debuted and focused on the seafaring Met Cyena. And just like the Omati Kaya in the first Avatar movie, the Medkayena proved themselves to be quickly adaptable to the warlike ways of the invading human horde.

So although the RDA and the Ash people are a formidable alliance, the RDA may have already engineered their own downfall. Combined with the Metayeena's natural advantage over the Ash people, the Sea Tribe already knows what RDA tactics to expect. And the same is true for the Omatakaya, whose guerilla tactics may again get tested when the Ash people threaten to burn down their forests.

Frighteningly, Vang and the Ash people believe that they've been forsaken by Awa, which not only contrasts with the spirituality of most Na'vi, but could be the match that lights a Na'vi civil war. In fact, the four tribes from the films are just a fraction of the native Na'vi population on Pandora.

Yes, James Cameron has said that he wants to introduce at least one new Na'vi tribe per film. As for which tribes will debut in the fourth and fifth Avatar movies, it's hard to say. From the movies to the games, there are actually 20 Na'vi tribes living on Pandora. For those who've played the games, which tribes do you think will debut in Avatar 4 and 5?

But before that, how do you think both the Ash people and the wind traders will change the landscape of Pandora? Tell us in the comments. And thanks for watching Screen Rant.
