The very first superhero sidekick in comic book history, Dick Grayson started out as the boy wonder Robin in Batman comics of the 1940s. Since then, Grayson has graduated to become the vigilante Nightwing and sometimes he also takes on the mantle of Batman. While he has proven his leadership qualities in Teen Titans, his formative years as a Batman sidekick largely shaped his hand-to-hand combat skills and values of justice. Grayson belonged to a family of acrobats, but after they were murdered, Batman has always been a father figure to him.
