Netflix has finally unveiled the full trailer for the final chapter of Stranger Things. While it mostly expands on the teaser released a few months back, the trailer introduces major changes coming to everyone's favorite supernatural '80s throwback epic. Set against Queen's 'Who Wants to Live Forever', the trailer promises a final battle that's bigger, darker, and more personal than ever before in the town of Hawkins.
The first notable reveal confirms a significant time jump. The Duffer brothers mentioned that the story jumps forward 18 months post the apocalyptic finale of the previous season. Fall 1987 greets our heroes with Hawkins turned into a military quarantine zone. With soldiers patrolling the school and the town on lockdown, the group isn't just fighting monsters but becoming insurgents in their own occupied territory, using secret tunnels to navigate the conflict between the government and the Upside Down.
Vecna makes a formidable return and no longer lurks around Creel House. He now appears in the Upside Down's version of Hawkins Town Hall, seemingly more an invader turned conqueror with new powers, as noted by Matt Duffer to Entertainment Weekly. Vecna, having grown, now attacks in the real world with advanced abilities.
The trailer also highlights Eleven's evolution. Seen manipulating a flying tombstone with ease, her powers have significantly advanced, including a telekinetic leap as described by the Duffers.
The most vivid reveal comes towards the trailer's end: Will Byers, once abducted into the Upside Down, is seen being pulled toward Vecna, who plans to use him once more.
